Why remap a van?

More pull when you're loaded

Most vans leave the factory with a conservative map, built to cover every market and fuel quality. A custom van remap adjusts boost, fuelling and torque limits so the engine pulls harder from low revs, which makes the biggest difference when the van is loaded or towing. It means fewer gear changes on hills, easier overtaking and a van that copes better with motorway work.

We remap popular vans and pickups including the Ford Transit and Transit Custom, VW Transporter T5/T6, Mercedes Sprinter and Vito, and pickups such as the Ford Ranger and VW Amarok. Send us your reg if yours isn’t listed.

The process

How we remap your van

01

Health check

We scan for fault codes and check the DPF, EGR and sensors before we touch the map. Problems are fixed first, not hidden.

02

Baseline run

Your van goes on our dyno for a baseline power and torque run.

03

Custom calibration

We write the map for your van and how you use it, then refine it on the dyno with live datalogging.

04

Before and after

A final run proves the gains. You get a before-and-after power graph.

Why the dyno matters

Mapped for the work you do

A van that tows a trailer every day needs a different map from one doing city deliveries. We ask how you use it, then set the torque delivery to suit, checked under load on our in-house Dyno Dynamics DS450. Emissions equipment stays in place and working: a healthy DPF is part of a good remap, and if yours needs attention we also offer DPF cleaning and regeneration.

Is my car suitable?

Vans and pickups we remap

Most modern turbo-diesel vans and pickups respond well to a remap. Older or high-mileage vans get a health check first, and we’ll tell you honestly if the clutch or turbo needs attention before we add torque.

Based near Bedford, we’re easy to reach from Luton, Huntingdon, St Neots and Milton Keynes. See our ECU remapping page for cars.

Had some work carried out with pulse at the start of the year. Can’t fault anything that was done, spoke about everything in great detail and their workmanship is spot on. I personally wouldn’t go anywhere else now, always on the end of the phone to help with anything they can. Can’t wait to take my car back for upgrades!

Recently imported an R34 GTR from Japan and got in touch with Pulse Motorsport to carry out a full inspection and service. These guys went above and beyond... arranging transport for the vehicle, keeping me updated with progress photos and showing great attention to detail throughout. They spotted and fixed a few issues that could’ve become problematic if left unchecked. Excellent service, reasonably priced and highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

For most turbo-diesel vans, yes, if it’s done properly. A custom remap gives more low-down torque for loads and towing. We health-check the van first and map it on the dyno, rather than loading a generic file.

Most vans are £360 inc. VAT for a custom remap, including the health check, dyno runs and a before-and-after graph. Ask us about fleet prices.

No. A remap doesn’t change the van’s legal gross weight, payload or towing limits, which are set by the manufacturer.

A good remap keeps the DPF working. We check it during the health check, and we don’t remove DPFs on vans used on the road.

Yes. We keep emissions equipment working, and a properly mapped van should pass its MOT as normal.

Yes. A remap is a modification, and you should tell your insurer before you drive the van.
