Our dyno

A proper 4WD dyno, in-house

Our workshop at Little Staughton is built around a Dyno Dynamics DS450 4WD rolling road, upgraded in 2026. Dyno Dynamics dynos are used by tuners around the world for consistent, repeatable results, and ours drives all four wheels, so all-wheel-drive cars run as they do on the road.

Every remap and custom tune we do is built and proven on this dyno. It is also available for power runs, diagnostics and before-and-after testing when you fit new parts.

Why it matters

2WD or 4WD? It makes a difference

A lot of rolling roads only drive two wheels. That is fine for a front- or rear-wheel-drive car, but an all-wheel-drive car has to be run with part of its drivetrain disconnected or tricked, which is not how it drives on the road.

Our DS450 drives all four wheels, so AWD performance cars, from hot hatches to GT-Rs, are tested and tuned as they really are. Front- and rear-wheel-drive cars are just as welcome, from classic Porsches to modern daily drivers.

FAQs

Rolling road FAQs

A rolling road, or chassis dyno, measures the power and torque your car puts through its wheels while it runs on rollers in the workshop. It lets us test and tune a car under real load, safely and repeatably, without going out on the road.

A power run is £70. Dyno rental and longer custom tuning sessions are priced on application, and remaps on the dyno start at £360 for Stage 1.

On a two-wheel-drive dyno, an all-wheel-drive car has to be run with part of its drivetrain disabled, which does not reflect how it drives. Our Dyno Dynamics DS450 4WD dyno drives all four wheels, so cars like a Golf R, Audi RS, BMW xDrive or Nissan GT-R run exactly as they do on the road.

Yes. Holding a car at a steady load lets us reproduce faults that only appear when the engine is working hard, such as misfires, boost leaks, fuelling problems and overheating, and datalog what is happening.

Bring the car with healthy tyres at the correct pressures, fluids topped up, no warning lights you have not told us about, and plenty of the fuel it is mapped for. Tell us about any modifications when you book.

The dyno measures power at the wheels. We show you the measured figures and explain how they compare with manufacturer flywheel figures, so you know exactly what your car is making.
