A Stage 1 remap is a software-only upgrade for a car on its original hardware. We adjust boost, fuelling, ignition timing, torque limits and throttle response so the engine makes more of the power it was always capable of, within safe limits for the standard turbo, clutch and gearbox.
It suits daily drivers, hot hatches, performance saloons and turbo diesels that tow. You get stronger mid-range pull, a sharper throttle and a car that feels more alive, without changing a single part.
We scan for fault codes and check the car is healthy before we touch the map. Problems are flagged first, not hidden by a tune.
Your car goes on our Dyno Dynamics DS450 4WD dyno for a baseline power and torque run.
We write the map for your car and its fuel, then refine it on the dyno with live datalogging.
A final run proves the gains. You take home a before-and-after power graph.
A lot of remaps are a file sent down a cable in a car park. We do it differently. Every Stage 1 is mapped and checked under load on our in-house Dyno Dynamics DS450 4WD dyno, upgraded in 2026.
Because the dyno is four-wheel drive, all-wheel-drive cars such as Golf R, Audi S and RS models, BMW xDrive and Nissan GT-R run exactly as they do on the road. We can hold the car at a set load to check fuelling and timing, see exactly what changed, and show you the results.

Stage 1 suits most modern turbocharged petrol and diesel cars and vans. Naturally aspirated engines usually gain less from software alone, and we will tell you honestly if a remap is not worth it on your car.

Our Stage 1 remap is £360 including VAT. That covers the health check, baseline dyno run, custom calibration and the before-and-after power graph. If your ECU needs to be unlocked or removed from the car to be read, we will tell you before we start.
Yes, a remap is a modification and you must tell your insurer. Many specialist insurers cover remapped cars at little or no extra cost, but not declaring it can invalidate your policy.
A Stage 1 remap does not remove or disable any emissions hardware. We keep your DPF, EGR and catalytic converter working, so a healthy car should pass its MOT as normal.
Most Stage 1 remaps are completed in a single visit. Exact time depends on the car and ECU, so we will confirm it when you book.
Yes. We read and keep your original ECU file before any changes are made, so the car can be returned to its standard map if you ever need it.
A manufacturer can refuse claims on parts they believe have been affected by tuning, such as the engine, turbo or gearbox. If your car is still under warranty, check the terms before you book.
Yes. Stage 1 suits most modern turbo diesel cars and vans as well as turbo petrol cars. Diesels typically gain strong mid-range torque, which makes towing and overtaking easier.
It depends on the car. Turbocharged petrol and diesel engines usually gain far more than naturally aspirated ones. We’ll give you a realistic figure for your car before you book, and the before-and-after dyno graph shows exactly what you gained.
